☞ They have hollow pitcher-shaped or tubular leaves, and solitary flowers with an umbrella-shaped style. Sarracenia purpurea, the sidesaddle flower, is common at the North; Sarracenia flava, Sarracenia rubra, Sarracenia Drummondii, Sarracenia variolaris, and Sarracenia psittacina are Southern species.
