n. [ OF. oriol gallery, corridor, LL. oriolum portico, hall, prob. fr. L. aureolus gilded, applied to an apartment decorated with gilding. See Oriole. ] [ Formerly written also oriol, oryal, oryall. ] [ 1913 Webster ]
