| Video on demand (VOD) | วีดิทัศน์ตามคำขอ (วีโอดี), วีดิทัศน์ตามคำขอ, Example: <b>วีดิทัศน์ตามคำขอ (Video on demand)</b> คือ ระบบการเรียกดูภาพยนตร์ตามสั่งที่จะอำนวยความสะดวกให้ผู้ใช้งานสามารถเลือกดูภาพยนตร์ หรือข้อมูลภาพเคลื่อนไหวพร้อมเสียงได้ตามต้องการ โดยสามารถใช้งานนี้ได้จากเครือข่ายสื่อสาร (Telecommunications Networks) ผู้ใช้งานซึ่งอยู่หน้าเครื่องลูกข่าย (Video Client) สามารถเรียกดูข้อมูลที่เป็นภาพเคลื่อนไหวได้ทุกเมื่อตามต้องการ และสามารถควบคุมข้อมูลวิดีโอนั้นๆ ได้โดยสามารถย้อนกลับ (Rewind) หรือกรอไปข้างหน้า (Forward) หรือหยุดชั่วคราวได้เปรียบเหมือนการดูวิดีทัศน์อยู่ที่บ้านนั่นเอง ทั้งนี้เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ลูกข่ายไม่จำเป็นต้องดูข้อมูลเดียวกันกล่าวคือสามารถดูภาพยนตร์เรื่องเดียวกันหรือต่างกันก็ได้<br><br> การใช้งานวีดิทัศน์ตามคำขอ จะให้ความสะดวกแก่ผู้ใช้ โดยผู้ใช้แต่ละคนจะสามารถเลือกดูรายการที่ตนเองสนใจเวลาใดก็ได้ โดยไม่ขึ้นอยู่กับผู้อื่นและไม่ต้องรอตารางเวลา แต่จะต้องใช้ความเร็วของเครือข่ายสื่อสารให้มากตามไปด้วย เนื่องจากจะต้องมีการส่งสัญญาณวิดีโอ 1 stream สำหรับผู้ใช้ 1 คน ระบบวีดิทัศน์ตามคำขอนี้สามารถนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ได้ทั้งในแง่ให้ความบันเทิงและให้ความรู้ ตามแต่เนื้อหาของวิดีทัศน์ที่บรรจุลงไป [บรรณารักษ์และสารสนเทศศาสตร์] |
