(a) A gigantic coniferous tree ({Sequoia sempervirens}) of
California, and its light and durable reddish timber. See

(b) An East Indian dyewood, obtained from {Pterocarpus
santalinus}, {Caesalpinia Sappan}, and several other
trees.
